CAPACITY BUILDING

Course Design Service

Remote learning is often synonymous with un-engaging talk-over-slides models which fail to deliver effective knowledge transfer or skill acquisition. That’s because course designers have not leveraged the full power of the online environment.  At Rees McCann we can help to adapt your in-the-room workshops for the live-online format so that they come alive with active participation – leading directly to real-world behaviour change.

We’ve been designing online learning programmes for more than ten years, and well before the pandemic we were helping change the narrative around remote learning by bringing our Exceptional Remote Learning Facilitation workshop to instructors all over the world. But while this course equips instructors with the tools they need to facilitate stronger remote learning experiences, it highlighted the need for improved course design in the remote-learning space.

With our course design service your learning programmes will:

  • Integrate various modalities – synchronous and asynchronous – into a cohesive learning experience
  • Provide learning experiences that are more inclusive, for a more diverse group of students, than in-the-room training could ever hope to be
  • Build stronger relationships between students and instructors, supporting application of what is learned
  • Use the best tools, timescales and approaches for effective learning, so that the most energy is expended on the highest-value topics
  • Include appropriate methods of assessing knowledge acquisition.

Our help will be especially valuable if your course content involves ‘soft skills’ such as leadership, negotiation, handling conflict, coaching, or even training itself – the kind of material that pre-pandemic, people used to say, “That can’t be learned remotely.”

The HOW-TO GUIDE

The talk-over-slides webinar is profoundly mismatched with the way humans learn and make decisions. This old-fashioned format is often grim for presenters, and even worse for participants. There are better ways to share information: ways that help people to learn, and make action more likely. Find recipes in this short ebook.
